    Hello,

I'm using a fairly "clean" Windows 7 32-bit SP1 which has almost never had any issues yet (only 37-38 processes running when "idle").

Recently, it seems I have troubles with Windows update

After installation of updates and the shutting down phase, I see a percentage going up to 30% and next the computer reboots. After the Windows logo, the screen goes black and nothing happens anymore. Only the mouse pointer is visible...

Even safe mode or "enable bootlogging" make no difference ...

The only "not reverting the system" solution seems to be using a WinPE stick and issuing the command "dism.exe /image:d:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions". After that, the system comes op, the familiar blue background picture comes after the logo and the system starts "reverting the pending updates".

I've tried everything already I've found on the net for a possible reason orsolution: using sfc, dism cleanup, cleanup-wizard for WinSxS folder cleaning, manipulating the file pending.xml in the WinSxS folder, ....

It also happens with different updates and types. Sometimes It seems I'm able to install a single update but that's an exception to the rule....

Question now is: what process could possible block the system during boot time so much even the blue background doesn't appear? Why can't Windows continue after some time? It's obvious it is related to Windows update but I"m beginning to bang my head against the wall for not finding the real issue (and connecting the system to a debugger is hopefully not necessary). I hope a tool can help me in diagnosing the "stuck boot during updates".

    Many thanks in advance!
