Thanks for the information.
To my experience, the issue might be caused by the cache files. They were created during this backup and filled up the 18 GB space. Normally, the cache files will be deleted automatically after backup completes.
To avoid the issue occurs again, more free space is better. And we will also improve our product in the future.
